its an odd place this world. when all we do is go through it, investing, in others, in the hope that it will become a better place.
We invest so much, and sometimes we get more back, sometimes we get burned.
we invest in people, knowing that we are potentially going to get nothing in return. yet we do it anyways, endlessly, relentlessly. As friends we stand by them, help them in time of need, listen, laugh, love. Relationships, a whole lot more is invested there, you give parts of yourself away, knowing you'll never get it back, and alot of the time, you dont, and you lose that part of yourself. you can only sit back and hope that the part they took, doesn't get tossed aside.
you have to realize, that no matter how much of yourself you give away, you can only expect to get it back, you bank on it, you hope for it. one day, it will happen, someone will come along, and recongnize what you have to offer. take what you have and offer what they have in return.
if you dont give, you dont get. so we do it, everyday we do it. hoping, waiting. knowing. time takes eternities to pass. the hurts of your failures will pass. life goes on. its a risk we take. some take more risks then others.
but as it goes.
nothing risked, nothing gained. you can't get something for nothing. so i invest.
~~don't waste time investing in anger, no one accepts that currency. invest in smiles, invest in yourself. someone, someday, will get it.

"Far better is it to dare mighty things, to win glorius triumphs, even though checkered by failure... than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy nor suffer much, because they live in a gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat."--T. Roosevelt
(and no, i don't expect you to add it to your facebook quotes)
My Drama teacher says it's always better to go 'within' to find wisdom rather than quoting others... but what do drama teachers know?...
Your post gave me goosebumps. It also made me think, yet again, that you have been a major part of nearly all my 'glorious triumphs'. Our adventures have been anything but gray... and I wouldn't have it any other way.
Can't wait until your back.
=) Travis
